Music Center Announces 2010 Performers for Global Pop at the Music Center in Walt Disney Concert Hall

The Music Center - Performing Arts Center of Los Angeles County announces the 2010 performers for The Blue Ribbon Presents Global Pop at the Music Center concert series. Presented at the iconic Walt Disney Concert Hall, Global Pop features international pop music stars in a series that reflects the distinctly global character of Los Angeles, showcasing popular singing artists from the home countries of immigrants now settled in Southern California, and welcoming a mostly first-time audience to the Music Center.
Now in its third year, The Blue Ribbon Presents Global Pop at the Music Center will showcase multiple GRAMMY Award-winning group, Los Tigres Del Norte, known as the godfathers of Norteño music, and Algerian superstar Khaled (Cheb Khaled). A third concert will be announced shortly.
Global Pop concert-goers can see their favorite pop performers in the Walt Disney Concert Hall, where audience seating surrounds the stage, offering these internationally renowned artists an opportunity to connect to their fans in an intimate setting.

Global Pop at the Music Center is presented by The Blue Ribbon. Founded by Dorothy Chandler in 1968, The Blue Ribbon is a support group of women leaders serving the Center, its arts education programs, and its resident companies.
About Los Tigres Del Norte
The San Jose-based five member band Los Tigres Del Norte has been widely hailed for their celebratory music which honors the immigrant experience. The band has been called the godfathers of Norteño music and has been instrumental in helping to modernize the genre, adding electric bass guitars and modern percussion to the mix.
Over the course of their four-decade career, Los Tigres has achieved worldwide sales in excess of 35 million copies, has filled numerous stadiums, and has received critical praise around the globe. About Khaled
Khaled was born in Oran, Algeria, and began recording music as Cheb Khaled in his teens. Dubbed by many as the "King of Raï", he popularized raï music in his homeland and, together with producer Rachid Baba Ahmend, created the genre that became known as "pop raï". His song "Didi" became the first raï hit in France, and broke the genre onto the global pop music scene.
Considered one of the most famous Algerian singers in the Arab world, Khaled has established himself as a major international star, working with producer Don Was and artists like Carlos Santana. His music has been featured in many films including "The Fifth Element" with Bruce Willis, and Bollywood's "Shreeman Aashiqand", and his album "N'ssi N'ssi" became the soundtrack for French film-maker Betrand Blier's "Un, deux, trois...Soleil", selling more than 2 million copies. Khaled is a winner of many prestigious awards, and has sold over 46 million albums worldwide including 10 diamond, platinum, and gold albums.
